Comment Default Visibility for Jira – Data subject requests
Under GDPR and most other privacy laws, data subjects have the right to access their personal data and to request its deletion. This document describes how to submit such requests for the Comment Default Visibility for Jira app.
What data does the app hold?
The app stores configuration data only (visibility scope settings per project and component). It does not store:
- Comment content
- User names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers
- Issue content or metadata beyond what is needed to apply visibility rules
If you are a Jira site administrator, the configuration you set (e.g. group IDs, role names, project keys) may be considered personal data in some contexts. We can provide or delete this data upon request.
How to submit a request

Please include:
- Type of request: Access or deletion
- Jira site URL (e.g.
https://yourcompany.atlassian.net) - Your identity and, if applicable, proof that you are authorized to act on behalf of the data subject
- Any additional context that helps us locate the data
Response times
We will acknowledge your request within 7 business days and respond substantively within 30 days, as required by GDPR. If we need more time, we will inform you and explain the delay.
What we will do
Access requests
We will provide a description of the data we hold for your Jira site, including:
- The configuration stored (global default, project overrides, component overrides)
- Where it is stored (Atlassian Forge app storage)
- How it is used
Deletion requests
We will delete the configuration data stored for your Jira site. This will reset the app to its default state (Internal visibility). The app will continue to function, but you will need to reconfigure it if you reinstall or wish to restore previous settings.
Note: We cannot delete data that resides in Jira itself (comments, issues, user data). For that, please contact Atlassian or your Jira administrator.
